Eating My Feelings.

Eating My Feelings.

Prompt: Tell us about your comfort foods.

Remember when I said this prompt scared the crap outta me? Well, to swing the pendulum in the opposite direction, today's topic filled me with glee because I love food. I'm passionate to the point of obsession, honestly. If I'm not eating, I'm thinking about my next meal, or daydreaming about what I'd like to eat! Food is truly awesome.

And to make matters even more heavenly, I married a man whose love language is cooking. Like, marinate on that for a moment. Seeing as how I believe in God and all, I literally believe our match was made in heaven.

While I do love to cook and I do know my way around a kitchen, there is something so meaningful about having someone prepare a meal for you. They are giving not only their time, but energy for your nourishment. We have three children whom we love dearly, but they make it difficult to go out for date nights as often as we'd like. Because we know how to prepare food, though, we can create our own date nights at home. It's amazing how even the most humble bedroom can be transformed with a few candles, a bottle of wine, and a homemade meal.

Further, feeding people is a way of saying, "Here, eat, because your survival matters to me. I want you to exist. Please let me sustain you so that you live to see another day." Do you know how powerful that is, especially in a world that often seeks to deplete and destroy?! It truly blows my mind.

Not only do I find comfort in food, but also love and devotion. It really doesn't get any better than that.

Hubby didn't make this hotdog, but we were able to enjoy it together!

Now, what about you? What how does food bring you comfort? Leave a comment!
