Who doesn't love a well-tended garden? I mean, it's beautiful, bursting with life and color and, in the case of a vegetable garden, food (I'm currently pregnant, so food is quite important to me at the moment)! I adore any and all flora and fauna. Lately, I've taken to grabbing bouquets of flowers from the store to keep on our kitchen table. Walking by that daily example of God's creation brings me so much joy.
My husband and I were talking the other night and the subject of our children came up. Recently, we've been doing battle with our boys--I don't know what's going on, but it seems both of them have forgotten how to behave! It got me to thinking about all the time and effort we've spent watering these sweet little gardens, tending them, making sure we fill them with the right values, teaching them right from wrong. Often, it feels like nothing we're doing is having any effect, but the fact of the matter is that much work is being done just beneath the surface. Our boys, our precious seeds, are growing and developing every single moment of the day, and it is our job to trust in what we cannot see. That's what having faith is all about, after all.
This pic is old, but perfectly captures their personalities. Lord, help us, lol! :)
