A Few Pics from Phoenix Comicon 2015
Hope your weekend was abundantly blessed! Ours was fantastically low-key for the most part...except for the amazing time we had at Phoenix Comicon! I'd been wanting to attend this annual event ever since I discovered AZ had one. (Side note: My husband and I lived in San Diego during the early years of our marriage and I'm told that Comicon is incredible! Still kicking myself for missing out, but am committed to attending it down the road).
Still, I think this was the perfect event to sort of get our feet wet because while it was a lot to take in, we weren't completely overwhelmed. With little ones in tow, it can be difficult to navigate crowds, so we made sure to leave the stroller at home and take breaks between exhibits/shows. We didn't dress up this time, but will definitely have costumes at the ready next time. Speaking of which, I have never seen so many beautiful and intricate ensembles in one place! The time, effort, and money invested really and truly blew my mind. When you're a kid, it's relatively easy—and acceptable—to dress up and embrace spontaneous flights of fancy. As an adult, however, the opportunities for whimsy shrink rather drastically. To see people from all walks of life have the freedom to embody their favorite fictional heroes for a few hours was incredibly inspiring to me. The vibe was full of joy and free of judgment, a heady combination if you ask me. By the time we walked back to our car, my mind was racing with costume ideas for my husband, the kids, and myself!
That's Jason Momoa at the bottom center. We popped in for few minutes during the Q&A of his panel.
We didn't stay long because the baby was cranky, but he seemed like a really gracious, down-to-earth guy.
Hope to see more great things from him!
If you're a Phoenix local, I highly recommend our city's Comicon! If you're not an Arizona resident, head to Google and see if there's an event in or around your area. There seems to be more and more popping up as demand grows!
