Hiking With Kids: Roxborough State Park!
Today, I'm so excited to be able share our adventures on the Lyons Overlook Trail at Roxborough State Park! As you can see from the photos below, it is an absolutely beautiful spot; just what we needed after far too much time away from the trails.
Because we have hikers of all sizes, we chose Lyons Overlook Trail as it's flat, scenic, and not too long. If you require more of a challenge, there are more difficult trails—head here to see the full breakdown of each trail. I highly recommend Roxborough State Park for all ages and abilities. Many of the hiking trails are flat and wide, winding through gorgeous scenery, and providing benches for rest along the way. Be advised, there is an entrance fee of $7, so have cash or a credit card (Visa or Mastercard) handy. If you'd like more tips on hiking with your kids, download my Family Hiking Checklist! It's perfect for folks who are new to hiking, but aren't sure where to start or what to bring.
As always, I recommend supportive footwear and light layers just in case the weather become unpredictable. Further, bring water and/or snacks to keep rumbling tummies at bay. Also, heed the signs and respect any wildlife that may cross your path. Before or after your hike, I highly recommend popping into the Visitor's Center! It's got great information on the area, as well as a few hands-on displays for the kids.

I've said it once already, but it bears repeating: I cannot recommend Roxborough State Park enough! We're definitely going to make our way back there again later in the season to tackle another trail and see the flowers in bloom.
Do you hike? If so, I'd love to hear where you're heading this year! Feel free to share a comment below.
