Do Something New.
The idea of "welcome" intrigues me. In one sense, it's an invitation to be a part of something. The love of God is very much an example of this. I like to think that when I asked Him into my heart, there were some cheers and a "Hey, we're so glad you're here!" I don't know if that's how it went down, but it makes me smile, anyway.
In another way, "welcome" marks the beginning of a new chapter. Of course, the first thing I think of is the New Year seeing as how we're a little over a week into 2015. We have the opportunity to reflect on previous years and make some changes. We can take stock of what worked and let go of behaviors—or people—that are harmful. It's a blessing, but there's definitely a degree of fear (for me, anyway). Moving from the spot that I've been is super uncomfortable, y'all! It's so warm and familiar and broken-in just the way I like it.
It's time to go, to push forward toward the light. Earlier today, my husband put things into perspective rather succinctly (as is his custom): "You can seek comfort or self-respect, but the two are mutually exclusive."
Welp, I've been complacent for long enough, so here's to a great year and oodles of self-respect!
