5 Fabulous Ideas for the Perfect "Push Present"

Hi Y'all!

So, I'm not sure how many of you are familiar with the term "

push present

" (up until a couple years ago, I was clueless on the subject), but lately I've been tossing around the idea of partaking in this custom. Basically, it's a gift women receive--usually from their partner--for giving birth. I first heard about this several years back when a friend treated herself to a new diaper bag, declaring it her "push present". While I liked the concept and felt it was well-deserved, I didn't think much of it as the years went by; however, the further along I've gotten in this third and final pregnancy, the more appealing it has become. There's a sense of resolution to this tradition. Whatever I choose to indulge in will mark the end of this beautiful phase of creating life, thus making the item--or items?--all the more meaningful.

Anyway, below, are a few of things that have caught my eye over the years, but I've yet to purchase for one reason or another. Some, like the bike and the iPad, were simply too expensive to justify; others--the tattoo and custom family portrait--required specific timing. I wanted to wait until our family was complete before I dove into anything permanent. And lastly, that "grown 'n' sexy" bathing suit? Well, it's taken me

to get to a place where I'm confident enough to rock something like that.

Incidentally, I did a roundup of gorgeous one-piece suits, last summer, if you're interested in seeing more.

Anyway, everything listed here would bring me joy for many years to come. If that's not the definition of a good investment, I don't know what is!
